My Story
Hey, thanks for being here. I’m Andrew Klinkhammer, a Kansas City-based personal trainer operating independently out of City Gym KC, with additional training available in home gyms and private residences.
I bring my sense of humor and comedy background into my personal training. It’s just as important to me that you’re entertained as it is that you’re getting an effective workout.
I’m passionate about helping people live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives. The benefits of fitness go far beyond the gym—improving our mental health, energy, confidence, and managing stress. It helps us become the best version of ourselves, and the more benefits we gain from exercise, the more we have to give to the people around us.
Since high school, fitness has been a major part of my life, and my passion for it has only grown. I grew up playing sports, and since 2013 I’ve been learning functional strength training and conditioning—through self-study, earning my NASM certification, following workout programs from top trainers, and working out at some of the best class-based strength gyms in the country such as The Phoenix Effect in LA and Ethos in Chicago.
Being mentored by the amazing coaches at these gyms has helped me build a strong foundation in technique, programming, and movement. I’m particularly passionate about injury prevention and corrective exercise.
Born and raised in St. Louis, I’m a Mizzou graduate with a background in sales and hospitality. I’ve lived in Seattle, LA, Chicago, and Australia. I studied and performed improv comedy at The Second City in Chicago, with creative experience in sketch comedy, stand-up, and content creation. No matter where life’s taken me, fitness has always been a constant and a core part of my lifestyle—and I want to help others experience those same benefits.
I’ll help you reach your health and fitness goals through well-rounded programs that prioritize longevity, mobility, and sustainable lifestyle changes. And most importantly, we’ll make sure the journey is fun along the way.
